My wife and I run a small bed and breakfast hotel (B&B) in Vermont and occasionally write articles about the industry. We get them picked up every once in a while, but they don’t seem to bring us much Internet traffic. Usually they’re published on other people websites, or on some industry online magazines. Sometimes we feel like we’re just wasting our time writing them, but we’re very passionate about our B&B :).
Any help this community can offer to help us receive more traffic (either paid or not) would be much appreciated.

The best practice of getting your articles indexed and found (high search engine results) is to include keywords in the article’s URL. Dynamically generated URL’s are generally less ‘search friendly’. For example:
www.bedandbreakfast.com/best-vermont-bed-and-breakfast
is much better than
www.bedandbreakfast.com/article123
The method of including keywords in the URL (usually reflecting the title of the article) helps engines identify what the article is about and also helps users include alt text tags to a link to your article from their website.
